I also have exciting news! For the past year I have been working with our MARN Mentor-Mentee program. As some of you know I have been involved with MARN for years, (2007 to be exact) and I have been on the board for many of these years. Serving as Vice President, President and most recently the Board Chair. Accepting a Mentor role in one of MARN's most meaningful programs was exciting for me. I was excited to talk about my passion and love of art with someone else who would be as excited about learning and growing.
Milwaukee Artist Resource Network (MARN)
2019-20 Mentor Mentee Exhibition | In 2005, Milwaukee Artist Resource Network developed MARNmentors for visual and literary artists, filmmakers, composers and arts administrators in order to strengthen the network of support for artists, provide in-depth professional resources and contribute to the health of Wisconsin's arts community. MARN acts as a liaison between established working artists with a desire to pass on their knowledge and professional experience to emerging artists who are selected as MARNmentees. MARN was proud to partner 17 Mentors with 21 Mentees for the 2019/2020 program! The process, the program was as exciting as I hoped it would be. And certainly will be one of the years remembered for it's challenges with COVID! But artists are creative and we have found ways to move forward with our programming despite some limitations. I had never heard of ZOOM until COVID. Now it has become a part of my daily life! Perhaps we could all share a cocktail hour via Zoom soon! I know I would love to hear what you are all doing in these interesting times.
But I digress...Back to the MARN Mentor-Mentee program. I have worked with my peer artist Frank Korb for the past year, not just teaching, as with any really good teaching experience, mentors learn too. This year has been inciteful and insightful in many ways. Having an individual as motivated about expanding his capacity to include art more fully in his life was truly rewarding. I have picked up some new mad skills myself. We will be talking about this experience more fully this week. Frank Korb and I will participate in a video talk where we will mutually share how the Mentor-Mentee program has benefitted us. We look forward to sharing this with you soon!!
I invite you to attend the culmination of our years programming. The 2020 MARN Mentor - Mentee show is now open to the public. You can get tickets here (they are free, ticketing helps the gallery maintain healthy and safe visits)
